Why attendance is required/mandatory at performances:
Performing for an audience is an important focus of the ensemble/class. Concerts provide an experience that cannot be reproduced in the classroom.
Performances are the final evaluations of many of the skills learned in class.
Performing in a musical ensemble is a group effort. The performance is weakened by every missing voice. We rehearse together and we perform together.
Student musicians are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances. Parents/guardians should make all attempts to ensure their children arrive to rehearsals and performances on time. Parents /guardians or authorized adults are responsible for transporting students to and from all after-school rehearsals (intermediate through high school) and performances. Parents/guardians are responsible for notifying the ensemble director when their child is unable to attend a rehearsal or concert, for any reason, with as much advanced notice as possible.
Attendance is required at all performances.
Students must wear appropriate concert attire for all performances.
An alternate assignment may be given at the discretion of the director to make up for an absence from a performance.
