SoundSport Snow Date Rehearsal!!!

The first SoundSport practice was cancelled due to the snow storm.

Our first practice will be on Monday, February 9.  Let’s hope there is now snow this time!

We will have an extra rehearsal next week on WEDNESDAY, February 11 from 6:00 – 7:30.  Students will meet in the CHMS band room at 6:00 PM.

Thank you!

SoundSport for 7th and 8th Grade Students!

Greetings!

Your student has expressed interest in participating in SoundSport, a new and exciting extracurricular program at City Hill Middle School. SoundSport is an activity designed to introduce students to an art form combining music and visual elements. Its curricular focus, coupled with character and team building, will provide students with a valuable skill set to enhance their academic and musical pursuits both inside and out of the classroom. This enhancement in musicianship will also prepare students for higher-level ensembles. SoundSport allows free membership for any musician interested in joining.

Rehearsals will take place every Monday from 6pm-7:30pm. Our first rehearsal is on Monday, February 2nd at 6pm in the Band Room. I ask that parents please attend the parent/student orientation that same day from 6-6:30pm. This orientation is a great opportunity for everyone to get a better understanding of the program, and to gather important information such as a rehearsal schedule and performance dates. The students will receive new music during the first rehearsal as well as begin learning choreography that will help enhance the music and final product.

Your student has the opportunity to be a founding member of SoundSport! Being a member will not only benefit them at the middle school, but will propel them into the high school program, as they will be collaborating with Mrs. Dravis and the band programs at City Hill Middle School, as well as Mr. Hughes and the Naugatuck High School Band. If you have any questions, feel free to email SoundSport Director Emanuel Arboleda: arbolede@naugy.net, or Mrs. Dravis: dravisk@naugy.net. We are very excited to begin this new musical experience, and we hope to see you on February 2nd!

Sincerely,

Emanuel Arboleda  -Director, SoundSport

Kathy Dravis  -CHMS Band Director

Robert Hughes  -NHS Band Director
