Borough Music Festival

 

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

7:00 PM – Naugatuck High School

 

Concert dress is as follows:

White shirt, dark bottom.

Boys must wear a tie.  

Girls dresses/skirts must be appropriate length.  

Dress shoes, if possible.

 

SoundSport Students will NOT wear the Lumos T Shirt.

(See Concert Dress Above)

Please bring capes to wear over white shirts

Please bring wands

 

SoundSport Percussionists – Please bring your instruments home and return them to City Hill following the Borough Festival Performance today.

 

Concert Band (5-7) Students are reminded to bring flashlights.

 

Reminder:  Please arrive at NHS at 6:00 PM for warm-up’s.  Signs will point you to your warm-up location. All students are expected to stay for the entire performance.

 

Recorders (Grade 4) – Green Room

Concert Band (Grades 5-7) – Choir Room

Symphonic/Jazz Band (Grades 8-12) – Band Room

 

TICKETS:

Anyone who requested extra tickets online but did not receive them can pick them up at Will-Call in the auditorium lobby tonight.  Your tickets are available and you may pick them up and pay for them there.

 

There are still a limited number of tickets that will be available at the door on a first come first serve basis.

 

SoundSport Coming Attractions

Important SoundSport Info and Reminders:
Those of you performing in the Borough Festival, please bring SoundSport instruments to Wednesday’s rehearsal.  We will be running through our program.
Concert dress for Borough Festival – Black bottoms and WHITE top.  Please bring your robes to wear over your WHITE shirt.  SoundSport Lumos shirts will NOT be worn for Borough Festival.
There will be no SoundSport practice this Friday 4/13.  Happy Spring Vacation!
Thursday, April 26
SoundSport will perform at the Faculty Student Basketball game at City Hill Middle School.  This is a change of location.  Game starts at 5:30.  SoundSport students are to arrive at 5:15 in the City Hill Middle School Band Room for warm up.  Ticket prices for watching the game is $2 for students and $5 for adults.  Families are $8.  Contact the school ahead of time if you are interested in a pizza for the family.  SoundSport students do not need a ticket if they are just performing.
Friday, April 27
Regular Friday Practice until 4:30 at CHMS.
 
Tuesday, May 1
SoundSport will perform at the City Hill Middle School Spring Concert.  Students are to arrive to City Hill at 6:30.  Students who are not in the City Hill Band will sit in the audience with their families until SoundSport will be performing.  Please have your instruments with you in the audience (or back stage for large instruments).  Performance attire: SoundSport Shirts, Capes, Wands, Black Pants.
 
Friday, May 18
Fantastic Festivals – Lake Compounce Trip.  See Permission Slip for info (to be handed out).  All students from intermediate schools or NHS must be dropped off at City Hill Middle School by 8:00 AM.
 

CHMS SPRING Choral Concert

Our Choral Spring Concert will be held on May 15, 2018 at 7PM in the auditorium.

Choral students are to wear white tops and black bottoms.

The Vocals and Treble Choir are to white tops and black bottoms.

Students should arrive at school at 6:30PM, the night of the concert.

The concert should last about 45 minutes.

Attendance by students in these groups is expected, and we ask that parents call the school if they anticipate any serious conflicts.  Please be aware that your child has been working extremely hard in preparation for their performance.

I ask that parents and other audience members plan on staying for the entire performance.

City Hill Middle School Instrumental Music Concert

Our grade 7 & 8 instrumental music spring concert will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

 

Band students are to wear their parade attire:

Uniform Tops (Provided) and Black Pants.  

 

SoundSport students are to wear their SoundSport attire:

SoundSport Shirts, Black Pants and Capes.  SoundSport students do not need to wear the parade uniform tops for the concert.

 

Students should arrive at school at 6:30PM, the night of the concert. The concert should last about one hour.

 

Attendance by students in these groups is expected, and we ask that parents call the school if they anticipate any serious conflicts.  Please be aware that your children have been working extremely hard in preparation for their performance.

 

We ask also that parents and other audience members plan on staying for the entire performance.

SoundSport Friends and Family Performance and Pizza!

Thursday, April 5

 

Arrival time: 5:00 PM*

 

*In order to make up for some lost rehearsal time due to weather, we would like to begin promptly at 5:00 in order to finish the show and be prepared for the performance.  Please be sure to arrive by 5:00.  If you need a ride, please coordinate with another SoundSport member.

 

Arrival Location:  NHS Gym

 

Performance Time: 8:00 PM

 

Performance Dress:  Black Pants/ Black SoundSport Shirts / Capes  (We will hand the shirts and capes out at the rehearsal!)       Please bring a “WAND” (stick)

 

Instruments:  You are responsible for bringing your own instrument.  All instruments (except keyboard, amp, and timpani) will be carried by you to NHS.  Please bring them home after rehearsal on March 29 and bring them to NHS on April 5. Percussion and keyboard instruments will remain at NHS following Friends and Family for use at Borough Festival rehearsals and performance.  You are responsible for bringing all percussion and keyboard equipment to the band room following performance to lock them up safely!!  

DO NOT LEAVE INSTRUMENTS IN THE GYM AREA!!!!! 

 

**Intermediate drummers who did not get their drums home are to let Mrs. Pettinicchi know and we will make sure your drum gets to the high school.  You can also notify me by email: kathleen.dravis@naugatuck.k12.ct.us 

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to these students from City Hill Middle School that participated in the annual CMEA Southern Region Music Festival held on March 10 at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School.

IT’S A GO!!!!!

CMEA Southern Middle School Rehearsal and Concert is on for Saturday, March 10.

PLEASE DROP YOUR CHILD OFF AT CITY HILL  BY 7:15AM. Bus will leave City Hill parking lot at 7:30AM to bring students to the Saturday rehearsal and concert at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School, CT-81 451, Killingworth.

Students, be sure to bring: music, instrument, pencil, water, lunch for Saturday and also money for concert tickets ($10.00 each).

Students are to dress in their concert attire as there will be no changing facilities.

Dear Southern Region Middle School Parents and Students,

Due to the storm and cancellations throughout the state, Southern Regional Middle School Friday (March 9) rehearsal is cancelled.

Please check this website for further developments pertaining to Saturday’s rehearsal and concert.We will notify you of cancellations if it becomes necessary.

Saturday, March 10, 2018  Rehearsal from 9am until concert time.

PLEASE DROP YOUR CHILD OFF AT CITY HILL  BY 7:15AM

Bus will leave City Hill parking lot at 7:30AM to bring students to the Saturday rehearsal and concert at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School, CT-81 451, Killingworth.

 

You will pick up your child right after the concert at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School,

 

CONCERT:    World Drumming, Flute Ensemble, Treble Choir, Mixed Chorus – 1:00pm.

Doors open at 12:30pm.

Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band – 3:30pm.

Doors open at 3:00pm

TICKETS: Tickets are $10.00 a piece

                    Tickets will be sold during lunch on Saturday.

Students are limited to 2 tickets purchased in advance. IF SENDING A CHECK, PLEASE MAKE IT OUT TO CMEA.

Tickets will be on a table (with your child’s last name) by the auditorium door where you can pick them up before entering the concert.

BRING: Music, instruments, pencils, music stand, water bottle and bag lunch for and Saturday.

DRESS: Saturday – students must wear concert dress all day – no changing facilities

CONCERT DRESS- BAND, FLUTE ENSEMBLE and CHORUS:

black bottoms, white tops, black socks and black shoes. (Men are to wear ties)

CONCERT DRESS-WORLD DRUMMING: black bottoms, black tops, black socks and black shoes.
